by OpenFireGlass infinally have the time to type more than a sentance.... .
my name is, mike warren... that's my real age in my profile...& yes that's my real pic.
though i was never baptized, i was raised in the silly religion... my parents started their study in early 1974 (at least i got 1birthday &1 christmas, not that i remember...) mom was baptized in less than a year after she started her study... it took my father about 7-8 more years to give up smoking, but he still made all the meetings & ruled with a leather belt.. i also have a younger sister that has faded (she got baptized).

Hard to believe that more people didn't listen to this
by A Paduan ini'm posting this again - it's very insightful regarding leaving a group like the jws.
the first five minutes is just the local news, so use the slide bar to get by it if you choose.

I listened to it. I agree where he is coming from. I think the interesting thing about Steven Hassen is that most people who where actually in high controll groups can relate to alot of what he says. On the other hand he dosn't get the same great reviews and respect amongst those who haven't shared the expierance. The show is a good listen.

DID YOU DO FIELD SERVICE IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD?
by badboy inone notices that some jws don't seem to do fs in their neighbourhood,is this common?

I hated field service in my neighborhood. I found in embarassing that the only time some people would actually say hi or visit their neighbors is during formalized preaching.

What do you make of the Daniel Book
by lost_light06 ini went to my first bookstudy in at least 4 weeks the other night.
we were studying the daniel book.
this particular study had to do with the king of the north and the king of the south in our modern day.

Take a look into most Bible commentaries and you will see much of the same information. Most of the interpretation of the book of daniel has been accepted for hundreds of years. Most interpreters agree on the historical figures in the book up untill the times of the Romans, from there people have many differant ideas what the book means. Some say it ended with Rome, some say that it contniues. My point is that their Daniel book is not impressive as it seems, much of the information can be found in agreement with people who came along way before the Watchtower. They fuse some of what has allready been accepted with their own strange ideas about how God fullfills his promises in the organization. In the end, looking at the material in the book that has obviously come from the WTS and not other sources you will find all kinds of looney information (ex. 1919). Don't be impressed, they didn't think it all up.

Tranfusions? Acts 15:29 says 'abstain from blood?
by Star Moore inhello, i've only d'aed in nov. and am still sorting many things out.
what about transfusions?

I agree it is a misrepresented issue. Looking over a variety of doctrines held by the WTS one will find a desire to be "differant", finding labels they can apply to themselves to "prove" that they alone follow Gods standards and thus are the only true religion. The fact remains that many issues (like the blood issue) can not only be disputed, but have changed within the organization itself. How can a doctrine be "obvious Bible truth" if it takes an organization filled with thousands (eventually millions) of people years to develop its theroies. Understanding the Watchtowers desire to seperate themselves from mainstream Christianity in order to prove their holiness and truth is a major factor in realizing what it is all about.

Franz and a "New" Witness Organization?
by Nellie in.
this strikes me as typical "apostate phobia propaganda" - but a "witness" just told me that ray franz started a "new order of jehovah's witnesses" after he was disfellowshipped.. is there any truth to this?
-
drew sagan
Ray has never tried to gain "followers" and start his own religion. Read his books, you'll see his desire to help people think outside of religious organizations that eventually only serve themselves.
